I work as an executive director of an art centre, Mikkeli Centre of Photography. I am also a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Music, Arts and Culture Studies at the University of Jyväskylä. As a teacher, I teach visual arts and design, and English language, culture and communication. My latest work as a designer and artist included acoustic interior design as well as the research, design and making of acoustic artworks for the Mikkeli University Consortium.

My research interests concern psychological well-being and applied positive psychology in arts, communication and language. I am currently studying how positive psychology could be applied in multimodal English language teaching and learning.

In my free time I value sustainable living with a connection to nature. I am a mother of two teenagers. Our home and head quarters are in Mikkeli, a town in Southeastern Finland, where I was born and still live on a small farm with my children. I appreciate the country life and run an organic garden in my leisure time. Caring for the environment and nature as well as the cultural heritage is an important part of my life. We live in a protected heritage building and also take care of a protected and restored granary. In my leisure time I enjoy gardening and water sports.
